Bloss Takes 2nd at CIAC Steeplechase; Rose Places 10th in Hammer Throw
Girls’ Outdoor Track
The Guilford girls’ outdoor track team was represented by a pair of athletes at the final meet of the high school season last week. Meredith Bloss ran in the CIAC 2,000-Meter Steeplechase and took second place for the race. Teammate Sofia Migani competed in the CIAC Heptathlon and finished in 22nd place.
On June 11, Bloss ran a time of 7:36.64 to earn runner-up honors in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at Manchester High School. Bloss only finished behind Sydney Dzenutis of Northwestern, who clocked in at 7:22.55.
Migani competed in the heptathlon, a two-day event that took place in Manchester on June 11-12. Migani scored a total of 2,931 points to come in 22nd place for the meet.
On the first day, Migani finished in a tie for 13th place in the high jump by clearing 4 feet-8.25 inches. She also finished 29th in the 200-meter dash (28.98 seconds), 29th in the 100 hurdles (20.32), and tied for 29th in the shot put (22-5).
For day two, Migani took 10th place in the 800-meter run by posting a time of 2:41.75. She also placed 20th for the long jump (15-0) and 25th in the javelin (55-6).
Boys’ Outdoor Track
Connor Rose competed on behalf of the Indians in the CIAC Hammer Throw that was held at Manchester High School on June 12. Rose recorded a throw of 102 feet-9 inches to finish in 10th place at the meet.
