H-K Boys’ Basketball Takes Three; Girls Get First Victory
Boys’ Basketball
The Haddam-Killingworth boys’ basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season after picking up three recent victories.
H-K defeated Civic Leadership by a 75-55 final on Dec. 27 to pick up its first victory of the year. The Cougars then dispatched Ellis Tech by the lopsided margin of 70-32 in another non-conference game on Dec. 29. On Jan. 2, H-K took a 67-47 defeat versus Old Lyme in a Shoreline Conference matchup on Jan. 2. The Cougars concluded their week on triumphant note by posting a 60-47 victory over conference foe Hale-Ray on Jan. 4.
Girls’ Basketball
The H-K girls’ basketball team notched its first win of the season by defeating Hale-Ray last week. The Cougars, who also took two recent defeats, have a record of 1-7 this winter.
On Dec. 28, the Cougars lost a 43-21 contest against Morgan. H-K then dropped a 60-48 decision versus Old Lyme on Jan. 2. However, H-K got in the win column when the Cougars posted a 43-15 blowout over Hale-Ray in a Shoreline Conference contest on Jan. 4.
Ice Hockey
The Lyman Hall/Haddam-Killingworth/Coginchaug boys’ ice hockey squad posted a pair of wins in last week’s action. The team now has a record of 4-2 this year.
On Jan. 2, the Trojans defeated non-conference opponent Staples by the final score of 4-1. Three days later, they earned a 6-4 win against Westhill-Stamford in another non-conference game.
Gymnastics
The Cougars participated in a pair of meets at Flip-Flop Gymnastics in Deep River right before the New Year.
On Dec. 27, H-K scored 63 points while competing in a meet versus Mercy, which scored 132.2 points; along with Law (125.95) and Valley Regional (124.05). Then on Dec. 29, the Cougars posted a total of 74.4 points when they competed against Mercy (130.3), Stonington (118.20), and Valley Regional (97.75).
