Local Student-Athletes Receive $21,000 from Bill’s Seafood Scholarship

Bill’s Seafood Restaurant of Westbrook recently announced the Bill’s Seafood Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Award winners for 2018. The recipients of the scholarships were Westbrook resident Halle Barron, Ivoryton’s Nathan deJongh, Vincent Dyer from Westbrook, Meredith Farrell of Westbrook, Clinton’s Anes Gadun, Old Saybrook resident Jonah Nucci, Jillian Ocken of Ivoryton, Old Saybrook’s Chloe Root, Mary Kate Stounton from Clinton.

The proceeds from Bill’s Seafood Golf Tournament are annually awarded to student-athlete graduates from local high schools. The recipients are male and female students who have demonstrated positive character, leadership, and citizenship qualities throughout their high-school careers. The recipients have also participated in their respective school’s sports programs and plan to further their education at a four-year college, junior college, business, or vocational school. The recipients collectively received a total of $21,000 from the tournament proceeds. Individuals and business sponsors, in part, support the tournament.
