Guilford Hosting Little League Baseball State Championship
Guilford Little League is hosting the 2017 Connecticut Little League State Championship, starting on Friday, July 28 and running through Tuesday, August 1. The tournament is a four-team double-elimination format featuring the champions from each Little League section in the state. Guilford welcomes Section 1 champion Fairfield American, Section 2 champion Wallingford, Section 3 champion Newington, and Section 4 champion Ellington to the tournament.
“Guilford Little League is proud to be selected to host the Little League State Championship this year. This is a great event for our town and the Guilford baseball community,” said Guilford Little League president Chris Loban. “I’d like to thank the many volunteers who have stepped up to make this all possible, and I’d encourage anyone who is interested to come on down to Adams Field to watch and support the kids. Be sure to wear your Guilford colors.”
All of the games in the tournament will take place at Adams Middle School on 233 Church St in Guilford. The game on Friday, July 28 starts at 5:30 p.m., the games on Saturday, July 29 will start at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the game on Sunday, July 30 will begin at 11 a.m., and the championship game takes place on Monday, July 31 at 5:30 p.m. The winner advances to the Northeast Regionals, starting on Saturday, August 5 in Bristol. The Northeast Regional winner will represent New England in the Little League World Series, which will be televised on ESPN. For info, visit www.guilfordlittleleague.org.
