The Guilford 5th-grade girls’ travel basketball team recently won the 2017 Fairfield County Basketball League Tournament championship after defeating New Fairfield by a 30-29 final on March 12. The athletes on Guilford’s team were Taylor Barberio, Carly Feldman, Faith Ferrie, Maria Gregory, Hanna Jennings, Alex Matthews, Sophia Meade, Saachi Mehta, Payton Root, Addie Smith, Lyndsey Vale, and Hallie Yerkis. Guilford was coached by Fred Ferrie and Dave Meade.
