Astra Studio Gets Some Gold at Access Broadway
During the weekend of Jan. 13-15, teams from Astra Studio of Dance and Performing Arts in Old Saybrook competed at the Access Broadway event in Groton. The studio’s Senior team scored high gold for its lyrical dance and also earned gold for its tap, jazz, and hip hop numbers. The Junior team scored high gold for its tap, jazz, and lyrical performances. Additionally, two contemporary soloists received gold, two lyrical soloists received golds, one lyrical soloist received a high gold, and one acting monologue received a high gold.
Astra Studio’s Senior team members are Chester resident Juliette Linares, Higganum resident Maya Casagrande, Old Saybrook residents Carla Matute, Amanda Pernal, and Jillian Peral; and Westbrook residents Chloe Bugden, Sophie Bugden, Mylena Cruz, Renee Perregaux, and Ashley Roberts.
The members of the Junior team are Clinton residents Victoria Le and Ava Schmidt, Gales Ferry resident Emma Golembeski, Old Saybrook resident Tess Santasiero, and Westbrook residents Giovanna Silva and Mackenzie True. The team’s artistic director is Brittany Wigglesworth.
