The Branford Youth Cheerleading 4th-grade squad recently took third place at the Shoreline Youth Football Conference local competition, after which the team finished in fourth place at the state competition at Hilllhouse High School in New Haven. The team’s head coach is Joanna Despotakis and its cheerleaders are ZuZu Pont Strong, Isabella Severino, Shay Barrett, Jessica Piazza, Randee Chobian, Chelsea Barron, Emma Melvin, Devyn Rhodes, Sophia Maldonado, Molly Brunson, Sophia Manzo, Lynka Orosz, and Lily Gagliardi.
