Madison Junior Legion Splits Four with Middletown Red
The Madison Junior Legion baseball team played four games against Zone 3 adversary Middletown Red last week and split of the pair to stand at 2-6 in zone play. Post 79 opened the week by playing a doubleheader at Middletown Red on June 22. Madison lost the opener 7-4, but came back to take the nightcap 5-0. Madison faced Middletown the next day at home and lost 5-1. The day after that, Post 79 had another home game versus Middletown Red and won this one 13-7 to come away with the split.
Ian Butler allowed one hit through six innings and struck out nine in the 5-0 win versus Middletown Red.
In the 13-7 victory, Butler went 3-for-3, while Emmett Tollis was 3-for-3 with a walk and was also the winning pitcher.
On June 26, Madison hosted South Windsor for a non-zone contest and prevailed 2-1 to improve to 8-7 overall.
