Siciliano Takes 5th in Open 1,600; Guilford Golf Competes at States

Boys’ Outdoor Track

The Guilford boys’ outdoor track team scored four points to finish tied for 46th place at the State Open Championship at Willow Brook Park in New Britain on June 6.

Ben Siciliano gathered all those points for the Indians with a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter run behind a time of 4:20.39. Also competing for Guilford were Finn Davidson (10th in the 1,600, 4:29.75) and the 4x400 relay team of Jordan Lembo-Frey, Siciliano, Will Smith, and Sam Sessions (23rd in 3:32.06).

Golf

The Guilford golf squad finished 15th out of 20 schools at the Division II State Championship on June 6 by shooting a 364 at Timberlin Golf Course.

Playing for Guilford were Sam Fridell (85), Aidan Kellaher (91), Stephen Thibault (92), Brian Hao (96), and James Marks (97).

Girls’ Tennis

At the State Open Girls’ Tennis Championship, the Indians’ sibling tandem of Charlotte and Molly Babbin advanced to the third round with victories over Alyssa Baldyga and Mallory Struble of Lyman Hall (8-0), plus Ashley Thomas and Erin Malley from Ellington (8-2). Then facing Margretta Hartman and Kimberly Lao of Glastonbury in the third round, the Babbin sisters took a defeat by the final score of 6-4, 1-6, 5-7.
