North Haven Boys’ Hockey Presents Postseason Awards, St. Peter MVP
On the heels of a another season in which it qualified for both playoff tournaments, the North Haven boys’ ice hockey team recently selected its postseason award winners.
Senior forward Jason St. Peter, who captained the Indians with defenseman Josh Back and forward JJ Jensen, was named North Haven’s Most Valuable Player. St. Peter scored 31 goals and dished out 14 assists on his way to earning All-SCC/SWC Division II Second Team, All-State Second Team, and New Haven Register All-Area honors, as well as a spot on the Connecticut High School Coaches Association’s Senior All-Star Team. St. Peter has been accepted to the University of Connecticut, where he will study in the engineering program and play club hockey. Senior goalie Justin Daddio was also an All-SCC/SWC Division II Second Team selection.
For other awards given out on behalf of Head Coach Mike Silengo’s squad, Jensen won the Hobey Baker Award, sophomore forward Sam Pethick was the Most Improved Player, and sophomore defenseman CJ Kenny came away with the Sportsmanship Award.
Additionally, junior Michael Gambardella was presented with the Rudy Award from the North Haven Hockey Association’s Parents Organization. The award annually goes to a player who makes sacrifices for the benefit of his teammates, refuses to stop working, and plays with great heart to inspire his teammates. Gambardella will serve as North Haven’s captain next season and the team’s associate captains will be Kenny and forward Jamie Montesi, who’s a forward.
