Valley Regional swimmer and Class S state champion James Whaley will be taking his talents to Iona College next year. Whaley has been swimming as a one-man team on behalf of the Warriors, for whom he was the Class S champ in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley as a junior last winter.

Whaley began swimming at the age 5 and does so year-round. He currently competes for the Cheshire YMCA Seadogs who are coached by Sean Farrell. A senior for Valley this year, Whaley is excited to swim at the Division I level at Iona in New Rochelle, New York next year and signed his Letter of Intent on Nov. 16.
