Hand Unified Sports Soccer Sees Successful Season
2015 marks the 10th year of Unified Sports at Hand and the program’s soccer team is one of the squads that took the field for the Tigers this fall. The Unified Sports program brings together special needs athletes with students without special needs for some friendly competition. The Hand Unified Sports program was runner-up last year for the CIAC Michael’s Cup Outstanding Unified Program Award. Hand has unified soccer and cheerleading in the fall, basketball and theater in the winter, and track and field in the spring. The soccer team recently had a scrimmage against Foran on Oct. 21. The club then scrimmaged against the Guilford Unified Sports program, along with the Tigers’ boys’ and girls’ high school squads, on Oct. 22. Following the unified game at Foran on Oct. 28, the year wraped up with an end-of-season party in the Polson Middle School café from 2 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 29.
