North Haven Youth Football Takes Three Defeats in Week 3
The Indians’ Youth Football program dropped three decisions in Week 3 play. The 8th-graders took a 27-0 loss to Shelton, the 7th-graders lost to Madison 19-8, and the 4th-grade squad dropped a 12-7 contest against Manchester.
For the 8th-graders, North Haven’s defense was led by Justin White, Joe Urtel, Noah Perillie, Joe Hendricks and Kyle Rollier, Matt Mullen, Jack Priebe and Joe Ranciato. Offensively, Jeff Williston, Josh Blumenthal, Jaden Watson, and Donnie McInnis led the effort.
The 7th-grade Indians played a physical game against Madison in their loss. With his team trailing 13-0 in the third quarter, Patrick Lillis ran 46 yards for a touchdown and then took in the 2-point conversion to make it 13-8. North Haven’s defense then forced two turnovers in the fourth quarter behind an interception from Gino Schiavo and a fumble recovery from James Loda. Unfortunately, the Indians were unable to convert a 4th-down-and-2 with 1:52 left in the game and came up on the short side. Lillis rushed for 82 yards and David Pace added 17 behind key blocks from Amir Zureiqui and Anthony Vigiotto. On defense, Sean Fenton made several tackles, four of which went for a loss, with Alex Dejesus and Hayden Tomlin adding key tackles.
In the 4th-graders’ game, North Haven scored first when Ryan Bernardo finished off a long drive by rushing for the touchdown and converting the extra point. The Indians’ offensive line was anchored by JP O’Neill, Albert Rotondo, and Nick Piscitelli. The defense was spearheaded by linebackers Tyler DiMauro, Dustin Arsich, and Bernardo.
