05/14/2014 12:00 AMAfter a 7-0 loss at Amity on May 5, Guilford girls' tennis rebounded with a 6-1 win over Sheehan the next day before another triumph over Career on May 7 by a 5-2 margin. The Indians did lose a tough 4-3 match at Hand on May 9 to move their mark to 9-2.
At Career, Kristen Forscher (6-3, 6-3), Anna Babbin (6-2, 6-3), and Emily Etter (6-1, 6-1); plus the tandems of Madeline Montenegro and Claire Dinauer (6-0, 6-0); Rebecca Eige and Genevieve Wilson (6-2, 6-1) prevailed for the Indians. Against Hand, Forscher (6-2, 6-3), Babbin (6-4, 6-3), and Etter (6-2, 6-1) were victors.
"Amity is strongl they simply outplayed us. It was our first real tough match of the year," said Head Coach Chris Marra. "Against Hand, we played a great match. Hand is always a strong team, and to play them this close was very good for us. The singles players really played well, especially Emily Etter. All the doubles teams just played outstanding tennis; next time we hope to get over the hump."
