After winning its first two meets of the campaign, the Valley gymnastics team lost on Jan. 10 at ABC Gymnastics in East Lyme to the Haddam-Killingworth co-op team. HK scored 118.25 to Valley's 94.60, followed by East Lyme's 73.35, and Old Lyme's 72.7.

Mikayla Connor scored an 8.9 on beam and freshman Melanie Lee scored a personal best for the year.

"With captain Maggie Calamari out sick and sophomore sensation Julianna Alvord injured and available for only one event, we fielded basically a three-person team," said Coach Carl Cavrell, whose squad is now 2-1.
