A Celebration of Renewal at Spectrum Gallery
Spectrum Art Gallery and Artisans Store, 61 Main Street, Centerbrook, presents its summer exhibit, Resurgence and Regrowth, a celebration of renewal for hopeful, happier and healthier times including images of the “new normal” from Friday, July 17 through Sunday, Sept. 6. New and original fine art and one-of-a-kind artisanal crafts are also presented.
Several new artists at Spectrum include Kathleen Werner, who creates large paintings from centered geometries, with distinctive movement through the use of multiple and varied symmetries; Ted Paulsen, a graphic artist who creates colorful drawings that blend humor, beauty, and fantasy; painter Hillary Griffin, who, inspired by her decades of travel, captures scenes of nature, focuses on seascapes, countryside scenes, wildlife, and still life; and Joan Brault, who presents a colorful eye-popping countryside pastel. Lauren Cryan strives to inspires us to enjoy nature through her fantastical mandalas while her husband, Steven Cryan, reminds us of the beauty of our coastline.
Other fine artists in the show include B. Rossitto, Bivenne Harvey Staiger, Don Dressler, Jacqueline Dee Parker, Gloria Nilsson, Catherine Satsuk, Edith Skiba LaMonica, Patti Maher, Melissa Imossi, Ned Farrell, Rosemary Webber, Deborah Churchill, Kim Korondowy, Steven Ostrowski, and Svitlana Tatulych.
Photographers include Paul Ramsey, Howard Margules, Barbara Weaver, Dianne Roberts, Faith Bilansky, Judith Secco, Sue Mullaney, Elin Dolle, and Paul Essenfeld.
Fine artisans include Maryann Flick, Andy Teran, Clara Buitrago, Janice Wood, Lynn Webber, and Nancy Scilipote. Creative jewelry designers include Dawn Lombard, Linda Saucier, Carol Dorman; Sandra and Whitney Huber and polymer clay jewelry designer Kristie Fosse. New to Spectrum is jewelry designer, Kristin Trainor. Returning fabric artisans include Sylvia Loomis, Holly Bollier, and Elaine Sych.
The gallery’s new summer hours are Thursday to Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Spectrum adheres to all safety measures and asks visitors to wear masks and use hand sanitizer upon entering. Guests may also browse and shop the online Gallery and Artisans Store at Spectrum Anytime, spectrumartgallery.org/shop with US shipping available. Gift cards also available in store and online.
