Nibbles: Pigs in a Blanket

I went to a New Year’s Eve party and the hosts, accomplished cooks who love food as much as I do, asked me to make pigs in a blanket.

Really?

For a group of guests that included serious cooks?

My host explained that it may be silly food, but everyone likes them. I could not argue with that, so I went to the market to get the refrigerated crescent rolls and the cocktail hot dogs. I had to ask where the two ingredients were, because I’d never made them before.

Were they easy to make? Yup!

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Unroll the dough. Separate each triangle and cut each triangle lengthwise into three narrow triangles. Put your sausage or small hot dog on the short side of the triangle, and roll up to the point, then put them point side down on an un-greased cookie sheet. Back 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

Did people like them?

Not so much, but I sure will make them for Super Sunday with friends who don’t take food quite so seriously.
