This complex novel in three parts is the perfect book for book groups. The first part of the novel is the relationship, semi-autobiographical, referring to the author’s affair with the much older Philip Roth. The second part concerns the interrogation of an Iraqi American at Heathrow Airport, and the third focuses on an aging author being interviewed about his work and his interest in music. One of The New York Times 10 Best Books of the Year, and recipient of excellent reviews, this is a thought-provoking read.
