After you graduate from college, you quickly get over the crowded bar scene. You know the kind of places I’m talking about, the places where it’s standing room only and you have to scream so that the person you’re with can hear you. That could also just be me, a 25-going-on-85 year-old who was never into that scene anyway. Either way, if you’re looking for a chill bar that doesn’t get a rowdy crowd, you should definitely check out The Playwright in Hamden. They have that laid back pub atmosphere, but there’s always enough people there to make it feel lively. In addition to fantastic food (the Murphy Potato Skins are my personal favorite), they also have trivia nights on Wednesdays, live music, and a happy hour that draws in a younger crowd (but not a “let’s try to sneak in and then have 10 shots” kind of crowd).
