Marshview Gallery Presents Work of Jill Beecher Matthew
The Marshview Gallery will feature the work of Jill Beecher Matthew during an upcoming exhibition, with an artist’s reception Thursday, June 8 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Matthew learned to paint from her mother at an early age. As she got older, Matthew’s art projects were put on hold while she pursued a career in microbiology and raised a family. After her mother’s death, Matthew brought back her mother’s art supplies which inspired her to begin painting again. Matthew has studied with Noel Belton and Leif Nilsson as well as other artists. She studied at the Cape School of Art and continues to take workshops to grow in her art. Matthew has exhibited at various venues along the shoreline and central Florida. She won several awards for her art including the Wall Street Gallery Award by the Madison Art Society. Her paintings often depict nature and seascapes.
Matthew will attend the Marshview Gallery Artist Reception on Thursday, June 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estuary Council of Seniors, 220 Main St, Old Saybrook. All are welcome. Light refreshments are served. Please note this month the reception is on a Thursday night.
