Turkeys to Look At, Turkeys to Eat

Every year, the Gozzi family at Gozzi’s Turkey Farm, 2443 Boston Post Road, in Guilford, puts multicolored turkeys out in a pen, in front of their farm, and thousands of people stop by with their children to check them out.

But if you want to eat one of their turkeys, order it sooner rather than later, says Bill Gozzi, a third generation turkey farmer.

“We sell out every year,” he says. “Just call us up and tell us what size.”

Gozzi turkeys range in size from about 10 pounds, to about 28. Bill Gozzi says they are broad breasted white birds, a line started by his grandfather 76 years ago, and that they have lots of white meat. They have a reputation for being flavorful and moist, even the big ones.
