More St. Patrick’s Day Fun
One of the oldest parades in the country, the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, will be Sunday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. in downtown New Haven. And there are several other ways to celebrate St. Patty’s Day. The Essex Parks & Recreation Department will celebrate the fifth annual Essex Go Bragh Irish Festival and Parade in downtown Essex on Saturday, March 12. The parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. at the Town Hall and the procession will continue south through Champlin Square into Essex Village and end at Ferry Street.
There will be horse drawn carriage rides through Main Street, face painting by Bohemian Body Art from 10 a.m. to noon, crafting with Community Music School at Village Provisions (after the parade), street performers for entertainment, and Irish Step Dancers mixing it up to authentic tunes.
Over at the Griswold Inn the Irish holiday will feature the music of singer/songwriter Martin Kelly from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. In addition, from 3 to 5 p.m. the Gris will also offer Guinness Glass Etching.
