01/27/2016 11:01 PMThe recently opened Gallery 31•47 at 45 Main Street in Chester will feature the mixed media sculpture work of Pam Erickson, abstract paintings by Matson Vollers, and the found object assemblages and sculptures from William Vollers.
Erickson lives and maintains a studio in Ivoryton. Dhe is a mixed media artist who collects artifacts to use in her artwork.
William Vollers has embraced the transience, impermanence, and imperfection of the Japanese aesthetic Wabi-Sabi.
“Derived from his love of primitive antiques...Vollers has embraced this aesthetic using mostly found objects, which are often the detritus of our modern world,” says his website. “A forgotten section of a wheel becomes a component of a sculpture that gives the viewer an opportunity to see the object differently as a new configuration, a contemporary sculpture.”
There will be an opening reception Friday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The exhibit runs through Feb. 28.
