CT State Historian Holds Educational and Musical Programs in October
Dr. Walter Woodward, state historian and Robert Frost scholar, will return to Bushnell Farm on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. for the program Frost at the Farm. The program, which includes Robert Frost’s poetry and music, is free and open to the public with on-site parking at 1445 Boston Post Road in Old Saybrook.
Woodward and his Band of Steady Habits will also perform a New England history lesson through music and song on Friday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chester Meeting House. The program, titled Frost Season, is Woodward’s musical tribute to the poet Robert Frost. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Woodward began his career as a folk singer and has been a country music composer, award-winning commercial jingle writer, and owner of an ad agency. He and his wife began to discuss changes in careers in midlife; his wife went off to become a veterinarian and he to pursue several degrees in early American history, including a doctorate from the University of Connecticut. He has been Connecticut’s state historian since 2004, and he is also a history professor at UConn.
