Older boy meets younger girl. Boy waits while the girl grows up and she becomes the love of his life. His world is shattered when he discovers he cannot be with her. He, then, with the best of intentions, pushes his half brother and the girl together, hoping their happiness will provide him some peace. This is beautiful, old-fashioned writing in the best possible sense.
