I loved this historical fiction! Dunant has outdone herself in researching the corrupt Borgias of 15th-century Rome. Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia from Spain becomes Pope Alexander VI and uses his illegitimate children, extreme wealth, and brutal tactics to take over most of the city-states that make up central Italy. Fascinating, incredibly written, at times bloody, and completely captivating!
