Second Annual Dance for Peace Set for June 29

Artists for World Peace presents the second annual Dance for Peace at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts center, 300 Main Street, Old Saybrook, on Saturday, June 29 at 8 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. that evening, there will be an art sale featuring the work of Claudia Hehr and printed handbags by students from the Fashion Institute of Technology. There will also be an outdoor performance by Catherine Gallant/DANCE and a wine reception.

Inspired by the International Peace Belt, Dance for Peace features dancers and musicians from New England and New York. Half of the proceeds from the event benefit Connecticut and New York City students majoring in the arts through need and merit-based scholarships. The remaining proceeds support Artists for World Peace's international humanitarian projects.

Performers include Broadway dancer and choreographer Monica Kapoor and her Bollywood Dancers; the Connecticut-based improvisational trio cartoondancemusic, featuring political cartoonist Bob Englehart, pianist/composer Neely Bruce, and dancer/choreographer Brad Roth; Catherine Fellows and Dancentral; The Sonia Plumb Dance Company; Elm City Dance Collective; Dancing Day's Shared Ability Dance Project; Island Reflections Dance Theater Company; Catherine Gallant/DANCE; Dances by Isadora, Ali Brodsky & Company; and Celeste and the Salt of the Earth Belly Dance Troupe.
