Five reasons why I love Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore (in no particular order):

1) It’s about a fabulous, fantastic, excellent bookstore in San Francisco;

2) The characters are on an important and possible life-altering quest;

3) The battle of old knowledge versus new has an unexpected outcome;

4) Matropolis (you’ll find it out); and

5) The novel is one of the most delightful, fanciful, complex stories I’ve read in a long time.
