Madison Jaycees Announce Cornhole Tourney and Jamboree
The Madison Jaycees have announced their annual fundraiser Jamboree set for Friday, Aug. 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Surf Club. This year’s event will also include a cornhole tournament along with all of the traditional food, refreshments, and fun, according to organizers.
Andrew Steinhandler, board member and fundraiser chair, said the event will be special this year.
“The cornhole tournament is just one aspect of this great party. Some of the highlights this year are a food truck, DJ/dancing, open bar, a raffle with great prizes donated by local businesses, and some fun games including a dunk tank and skee ball. All proceeds from this event, like the others we have during the course of the year, will go towards local charities and families in need,” Steinhandler said.
According to Wes Barnes, president of the Madison Jaycees, the organization is deeply involved in assisting area residents with a wide array of financial and logistical support.
“The Madison Jaycees is an organization comprised of people whose collective goal is to promote the welfare of our communities in Madison, Guilford, as well as surrounding towns through the completion of proactive community betterment projects. By participating in these activities, the people of our communities develop personal and professional leadership skills, heighten their civic awareness and showcase their contributions as exemplary citizens. Thus, the overriding purpose of the Madison Jaycees is to facilitate in each of its members’ individual development through involvement in community affairs.”
Steinhandler said the event is a great way to spend some summertime hours with family and friends and also a great opportunity to support the community.
“The Madison Jaycees’ is a local civic organization that raises money for local charities, provides high school scholarships for both Madison and Guilford and assists families in need along the CT Shoreline. All of the proceeds from this event, as well as our other events throughout the year, help raise money for these great causes,” said Steinhandler. “We sponsor this event, as well as The Turkey Trot, The Triathlon, Madison Masters Golf Tournament, and others, to help raise money and bring support to different causes. We have a lot of fun at these events, but the end goal is, and always has been, to better our community.”
The cornhole tournament starts promptly at 6 p.m., according to Steinhandler. The winners will receive 30% of the pot, and the cost to enter the tourney is $60.
The jamboree entrance fee is $80 per person and includes an open bar, DJ, a raffle, and cash food trucks. Tickets can be purchased via Venmo at @MadisonJayceesCT, or by emailing steinhandler@gmail.com.
