Paul Saverio Minore, Sr.


Paul Saverio Minore, Sr., 78, a lifelong resident of Guilford, died suddenly at his home on Jan. 26. Paul was the beloved husband of Elaine Dahl Minore. He was born in New Haven on July 30, 1944, the son of the late Philip and Theresa Raucci Minore.

Loving and devoted father to Paul Minore, Jr. (Kristie Valentino) and Rosemary (Anthony) Minore-Carbone, and his youngest son Philip Minore who predeceased him in 2013. He also leaves his daughter-in-law Deborah Doughty Minore and his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Christopher (AnneMarie), and Peter Minore; Anthony, Lauren, and Stephen Carbone, and Ryan Minore; and great-granddaughter Maisie Louise Minore, along with his sisters, JoAnn Minore Mizger and Theresa Minore Fiondella. Paul was also predeceased by his brother Saverio “Sammy” Minore; sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and Libby Riccio; and brothers-in-law Alex Mizger, Sr. and William Fiondella, Sr.

Paul retired after 46 years from Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he served for many years as the director of materials services and coordinator of the copy and printing center. Paul served as the President of the Yale New Haven Healthcare Financial Federal Credit Union for many years. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for two years and for 18 years in the Connecticut National Guard. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the New Haven Sportsmen’s Club for many years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. A graduate of the Guilford High School Class of 1962, Paul recently coordinated the class’s 60th reunion, reconnecting with many of his classmates.

Paul was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time on his property, “the camp,” in upstate New York with his children and grandchildren hunting, snowmobiling, riding ATVs, and renovating the structures on the properties. He especially liked to hunt elk in New Mexico and Montana and spent many weekends with friends in Vermont hunting. He enjoyed fishing and clamming and bowled in the Yale New Haven Hospital League since its inception.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford. Burial will follow in Alder Brook Cemetery, Boston Street, Guilford. Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford.
