H-K Sports: A Week in Review
Girls’ Basketball
The Cougars improved their conference record, adding two wins and a loss to their record sheet. The team, now 8-6 overall and 6-5 in conference play, took a 63-46 loss at home to Coginchaug on Jan. 24. They bounced back on Jan. 27, taking a decisive road victory at Portland 63-28, and a 75-63 win at North Branford. They traveled to East Hampton on Jan. 31 (after press time) and will host Morgan on Friday, Feb. 3 and North Branford on on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The tough season continued for the Rocky Hill co-op boys’ ice hockey team. They took a 7-2 loss on the road against Newington
on Jan. 28. The team, 2-9 on the season, hosted Southington-Coginchaug-Westbrook on Jan. 30 and East Catholic on Feb. 1 (after press time), and will travel to E.O. Smith/Tolland on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of the visiting Suffield co-op, 5-4, on Jan. 28. The Tigers are now 8-4 on the season. They were set to travel to Ridgefield to take on Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon on Feb. 1 (after press time). The team will take on Woodstock Academy co-op on the road on Friday, Feb. 3, and will travel to Stamford to face Stamford/Westhill/Staples on Saturday, Feb. 4.
