Nibbles: Edd’s Place
I often have mid-morning appointments. If I don’t have breakfast, by the time my appointments are finished, I need lunch. One day, I was in the mood for a fish sandwich, but it was a little too early, so I drove south and saw Edd’s Place. Maybe I didn’t want a fish sandwich after all. Maybe I just wanted to sit outside and have a chicken salad sandwich, some coleslaw, and a cup of lobster bisque. I wanted to sit outside facing a river or an estuary, see ducks and an egret or two, read a book, and feel peaceful. The chicken sandwich was perfect; the rye bread was real rye bread and toasted just right. The coleslaw was fresh with just a tiny bit of mayonnaise and the lobster bisque shiny bright coral and flecked with tiny puddles of butter. In addition to lunch and breakfast, they do dinner on weekends, and they have seating in case of inclement weather.—Lee White
