Chris George Kiriakis, 84, of Old Saybrook, died July 27 at Gladeview Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook. Chris was born in Portland, Maine, son of the late George and Angelika (Rossi) Kiriakis. He spent most of his life in Bridgeport before moving to Old Saybrook four years ago.

Chris was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had worked as a laborer for the railroad and in the shipping department of a printing company before retiring. He was also a member of St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church in Orange. In addition, he was an avid architectural drawer.

Chris will be remembered as being a hardworking man his whole life.

He is survived by his brothers, George Kiriakis and his wife Marion of Norwalk and Angelo Heonis of Bridgeport; his two nephews, Alexander Heonis and his wife Alexandra of Old Saybrook, who were his caregivers for many years, and Chris Heonis of Orange; a niece, Christine Kiriakis of Norwalk; and a grandniece, Arianna Heonis of Old Saybrook.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, at a time to be announced. The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook, is in charge of arrangements.
