Branford Police Arrest Man After Violent Domestic Dispute
The Branford Police Department arrested Christopher R. Zdunek, 32, of 7 Hopkins Court, on the evening of March 11 after a 911 call was received from his home reporting a violent domestic dispute.
When officers arrived at the home, Zdunek fled from the officers into a wooded area by his home. Officers learned from the caller that Zdunek was the alleged offender in a violent domestic dispute that occurred in the presence of their younger children at the dinner table.
A short time later, Zdunek emerged from the wooded area as was seen by Detective Ryan Tobin on a nearby roadway. As Tobin identified himself, Zdunek again fled through neighborhood rear yards, however, Tobin was eventually able to take Zdunek into custody. During the apprehension, Detective Tobin suffered minor injuries to his knee and a laceration to his hand.
Zdunek was charged with second degree assault, second degree strangulation, assault on an officer, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, interfering with an officer, threatening, and disorderly conduct.
Zdunek was held on a $250,000.00 bond and will be arraigned in New Haven Court this morning.
