Mike Olt Singles Home Winning Run in 2-1, Walk-Off Victory
Mike Olt pinch hit for Mitch Moreland in the bottom of the ninth inning and laced a two-out single against Phil Coke, driving home Nelson Cruz with the winning run in the Rangers' 2-1, walk-off victory against Detroit.
Cruz had walked to lead off the ninth, followed by Michael Young's walk that caused Tigers' Manager Jim Leyland to bring in the southpaw Coke for Brayan Villarreal. After getting two outs, Coke gave up a single to Olt to left field that plated Cruz for the win.
Justin Verlander started for Detroit with Derek Holland pitching for the first-place Rangers, who improved to 66-46.
Olt is now 3-for-10 for a .300 batting average to go with .400 on-base percentage, two runs scored, four RBI, three walks, and one stolen base.
