Gilda T. Torello, 84, of East Haven
Gilda T. Torello, 84, of East Haven, loving wife of John Torello, died on June 8. Born June 17, 1928 in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mamie (Norder) Riolino. She was a loving wife, mother, “Nana,” and aunt. Gilda was an avid cook, especially known for her manicotti, eggplant, hot pepper jelly, and pickled eggplant.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Rutherford, his team, Smilow Cancer Hospital 14th Floor, the Infusion Team, and Connecticut Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Gilda. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Gilda is survived by her children Diane Asprelli and her husband Frank of New Haven, Karen Frugale and her husband James of Cheshire, and John Michael Torello of East Haven. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Nicholas, Christina, and Joseph Frugale and several nieces, nephews, and a large extended family of loved ones. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Riolino, Sr.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebated June 11 in St. Clare Church, East Haven followed by committal at St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Smilow Cancer Center in memory of Gilda Torello. The Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven, was in charge of arrangements.
