Charles Henry Scranton, 94, of Randolph, Nebraska, died July 16 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. Memorial services were held July 23 with visitation until service time at Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph. Rev. Father Timothy Forget officiated, with music by guitarist/cantor George Bradley. Inurnment will be at a later date in Connecticut. Services were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Randolph.
Charley was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Guilford, the son of Romeo and Amelia (Shade) Scranton. He graduated high school in Guilford in 1941. After graduation he worked on the family farm. Charley was a lifelong dairy farmer on the family farm near Guilford. He named this farm Lakeside Farms; it continues today as a feed store and a tourist attraction. He moved to Randolph, Nebraska, in 1973. Charley served on the board of directors for the Randolph Senior Center and it was a very special place to him, where he met many friends. In 2012 he became a member of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph.
Surviving Charles is a cousin, Oliver Scranton of North Guilford. He is also survived by many friends, some of whom were referred to as Charley’s Angels. He was preceded in death by his parents.
