Police Incident Report March 10 to 16
The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.
Branford
Wednesday, March 10
• A 53 year-old man of Main Street was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right.
Thursday, March 11
• A 41 year-old man of Jacob Lane was charged with disorderly conduct.
• A 30 year-old Putnam man was charged with violation of probation.
• A 32 year-old man of Hopkins Court was charged with risk of injury to a minor, interfering with a police officer, assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, assault in the second degree, threatening, and strangulation in the second degree. He was arrested following a 911 call from his home reporting a violent domestic dispute. When police arrived the accused fled from officers into a wooded area nearby. The caller told police the dispute occurred in the presence of young children at the dinner table. A short time later police spotted the accused on a nearby road. He fled again, leading police on a foot chase through several yards. During the apprehension, Detective Ryan Tobin suffered minor injuries to his knee and a laceration to his hand. The accused was held in lieu of a $250,000 surety bond pending arraignment on the following day.
• A 61 year-old man of Branford Street was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Friday, March 12 to Saturday, March 13
• No arrests were made.
Sunday, March 14
• A 28 year-old man of Laurel Hill Road was charged with carrying a gun without a permit, carry and sale of a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, criminal trespass in the third degree, breach of peace, criminal possession of a gun, violation of a protective order, and violation of a town ordinance.
Monday, March 15
No arrests were made.
Tuesday, March 16
• A 26 year-old woman of Crosswood Road was charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree.
• An 18 year-old Guilford man was charged with larceny in the sixth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree. In the same incident an 18 year-old Clinton man was charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and larceny in the sixth degree. Additionally, a 19 year-old Wallingford man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less then four ounces of marijuana, weapons in a motor vehicle, larceny in the sixth degree, and conspiracy to commit larceny.
North Branford
Wednesday, March 10
No arrests were made.
Thursday, March 11
• An 18 year-old Meriden man was charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, use and possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to obey a control signal.
Friday, March 12 to Monday, March 15
No arrests were made.
Tuesday, March 16
• A 23 year-old Branford woman was charged with larceny in the sixth degree after she was issued a misdemeanor for misuse of plate, failure to have insurance, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and failure to renew registration.
• A 37 year-old woman of Branford Road was charged with violation of conditions of release.
• A 50 year-old man of Pine View Drive was charged with disorderly conduct and threatening.
