Karl W. Rutt, Sr., of Branford, died Jan. 13 at Branford Hills Health Care Center (BHHCC). He was the beloved husband of Carol Rutt. Mr. Rutt was born April 30, 1935, in East Bangor, Pennsylvania, son of the late William Harrison and Cora Shover Rutt.
He was a partner with Algonquin Industries until his retirement in 1997. He and Carol traveled extensively, and Karl also loved working in his garden. He was also a member of the Branford Elks Club, BPOE 1939.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Karl W. Rutt, Jr., of Arlington, Texas, and Kurt W. Rutt of Branford; and his step-daughter Bethany (Luke) Karsmarski of North Branford. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters Doris Trilli, Arlene Labar, and Helen Rutt.

Relatives and friends may call Jan. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford, and may attend a funeral service Jan. 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Branford.
