Kathleen (Kit) Burns Costello, age 61, died on April 13 in Meriden. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Robert and Katharyne (Burke) Costello, Kit spent most of her childhood with her five siblings in Flossmoor, Illinois.
A graduate of Homewood Flossmoor High School in 1976, she went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Central Connecticut State University. Kit enjoyed a successful career as a consultant in sales and business development on both US coasts. Later in life she established Kit's Caboodle, an online jewelry business to express her artistic and creative spirit.
Kit loved music of many genres and photography and was often the unofficial photographer at many family events. Kit was also very spiritual, a member of Branford Evangelical Free Church. One of her favorite quotes came from Billy Graham, "My home is in Heaven. I am just traveling through this world." For the past seven years Kit lived in Branford, which she loved dearly. She was devoted to her gardens and galavanting around the shoreline with her best friend Robin who will miss her sharp wit and fathomless knowledge of rock and roll.
Kit is survived by her sisters Marty Costello (George Richards), Mary Carey (Ray), Megan Servello (Dennis), Sarah Costello, and Tim Costello (Terri); and nieces and nephews Kyle and Connor Costello, Meghan and Kathryn Carey, and Madeline and Luke Servello. She is also survived by her Branford family Robin, Marc, and Sonny Reed. She is predeceased by her parents Bob and Kathy who were eagerly awaiting her arrival in Heaven.
A future memorial will be planned in Branford. Donations in Kit's memory can be made to The Community Dining Room, where she often enjoyed the hospitality.
