Old Saybrook Fire Dept responds to Kitchen Fire at 1 Fordham Trail
The Old Saybrook Fire Department responded to a report of heavy black smoke coming from a single family home at 1 Fordham Trai on Saturday, June 11 at 8:29 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find a kitchen fire. The first firefighters ventilated the windows in the rear of the house while others forced entry to the front door and advancing a hand line to extinguish the fire.
The Clinton Fire Dept provided a Rapid Intervention Team tasked with Firefighter Rescue if needed and the Essex Fire Dept responded in with a Ladder and an Engine. Because the neighborhood has no fire hydrants area water tenders were dispatch to
establish a water shuttle operation which was cancelled due to the quick suppression of the fire. No injuries were
reported and no one was home when the fire started.
It is important to note that when the fire was dispatched another Engine Company from Old Saybrook was assisting other area firefighters extricating the victim from the Westbrook Plane Crash.
