William Forslund, 93, of New Haven and East Haven passed away peacefully at Apple Rehab on April 4. He was born June 26, 1922, in New Haven to Fritz and Pauline (Kahlenberg) Forslund.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marie (Drexler) Forslund (2013); his son William Forslund; and brothers Frederick and Russell Forslund. William is survived by two loving daughters, Christine Cain and her husband John of New Haven, and Patricia Macolino and her husband Ernie of Branford. William is also survived by three grandchildren, Christopher Forslund (Jennifer), Michael Goclowski (Angela), and Elissa Goclowski; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Forslund; and a daughter-in-law, Jo-Ann Forslund.
William was a US Army veteran of WWII and retired tool and die maker at Amity Tool Company. He was a former member of the American Legion in East Haven, and former member and president of the Edgewood Club in Westville. William was a true family man; he was devoted to wife, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. April 7 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. The funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on April 8 at 9:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven, with Committal and Military Honors to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
