North Branford Police Revives Motorcycle Unit
North Branford Police Department (NBPD) has revived its motorcycle unit, with two department members manning the NBPD's Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The NBPD motorcycle unit includes Sgt. David Madoule and Officer Kristen Fitzgerald, said Acting Chief James Lovelace. The motorcycle unit patrols at the discretion of each rider and based on needs and considerations including weather.
Sgt. Madoule and Officer Fitzgerald work different shifts and share use of the department's single Harley.
"It's another tool we can use, "said Lovelace of the motorcycle unit. "Especially in the traffic aspect, at times it will have a greater impact and help other officers on the road."
The motorcycle unit will also represent NBPD in community functions such as parades, said Lovelace.
