Proposal for New Historic District Goes Back to Clinton Public Hearing
There will be a continued public hearing of the Planning & Zoning Commission at Town Hall on Monday, Jan. 6 over the proposed establishment of a village district along High Street and John Street. The hearing will take place at 7 p.m.
The applicant for the district is the Clinton Historic District Commission. The commission argues the creation of such a district will help preserve the character of the neighborhood.
A previous public hearing on the matter was held on Dec. 2. At that meeting, some members of the public spoke against the measure out of a fear the creation of the district would limit the amount of control they had over any future changes to their property. Some members of the public and the commission also expressed confusion as to where the boundaries of the district would fall.
The commission asked the applicant to provide more answers at the Jan. 6 public hearing. During the hearing, concerned citizens may speak in favor, against, or neutrally on the matter.
