Branford Sets 'Listening Sessions' to Update Plan of Conservation and Development
BRANFORD- The Town of Branford has scheduled several "listening sessions" in the coming weeks and months to get input for the 2018 update of the Town Plan - Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) - from various Town boards and organizations.
All three meetings are scheduled at the Canoe Brook Senior Center [11 Cherry Hill Road] from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend these meetings and there will be a portion of the meeting reserved for public comment.
The first meeting, scheduled for Wed. Jan. 10, is seeking input on "conservation related" strategies. This meeting is expected to include discussions of natural resources (environment), open space, coastal issues / resources, community character (historic, scenic, spirit, etc.), sustainability/resiliency, and similar things that Branford may want to protect, preserve, or address in the future.
The second meeting, scheduled for Wed. Jan. 24, is seeking input on "development related" strategies. This meeting is expected to include discussions of Branford Center, transit-oriented development, villages/neighborhoods (Stony Creek, Short Beach, Pine Orchard, Branford Hills, etc.), overall business/economic development, overall residential development /housing needs, and similar things that Branford may want to guide, manage, or address in the future.
The third meeting, scheduled for Wed. Feb. 7, is seeking input on "infrastructure related" strategies. This meeting is expected to include discussions of community facilities (education, public works, public safety, parks / recreation, social services, etc.), vehicular transportation, pedestrian/ bicycle circulation, rail/transit, utility infrastructure and similar services or facilities that Branford may want to provide, have, or address in the future.
If needed, the POCD Steering Committee is also considering scheduling another meeting near the end of February gather additional input.
