Mary Louise Bean (Bravo), 86, of Guilford, loving wife of the late Oren N. Bean and Jose A. Bravo, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away with her family at her side on March 28 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Born in Sao Paolo, Brazil, May 22, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Carlos A. and Rosemary Kebe Loth.
Marylu was a court interpreter and worked for the State of Connecticut Judicial Department. Earlier in her career she was an English teacher in Medellin, Colombia. Marylu was an active parishioner of St. George’s Church of Guilford. She was an award-winning sewer and baker, and loved ladybugs, traveling, the New York Mets, and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Lucy Ellen Bravo of Guilford, Andrew Bravo (Susan) of Wallingford, John David Bravo of New Haven, George W. Bravo of Guilford, Louise “Betsy” Bravo and her fiancé Chad Trombley of Bethany, and Mary “Lolly” Bravo of Evanston, Illinois; and grandchildren Jennifer Whitman, Stephanie Bravo Hohenstein and her husband Andrew, Margaret Bravo, Kelly Bravo Cherhoniak and her husband Ryan, and Paulina Bravo. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren, John and Kathleen Adams; and her great-grandchildren Drew, Hailey, Cooper, and Oliver Hohenstein. She also leaves her sister Patricia Keim and brother Carlos W. Kebe, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Rosemary “Posie” Smith and her grandson Matthew Bravo.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 22 at 10:00 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org.
