Clinton Votes May 13 on Budgets, Roadwork Proposal
CLINTON - The proposed town and school budgets totaling a combined $49.8 million for 2015-’16, which represents an increase in spending of $1.38 million, or 2.86 percent, over current spending, go to referendum on Wednesday, May 13 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The proposed town budget is $16,752,237, up $664,309, or 4.1 percent, from the current year. The Board of Education (BOE) is requesting a $33,040,331 budget, up $719,233, or 2.2 percent.
Voters will also be asked to approve a $4.2 million road and infrastructure improvement appropriation. The appropriation includes $3.3 million for improvements to more than 30 local roads (this measure was rejected by voters in December 2014), $250,000 to repair the HVAC system at the Clinton Police Department, $300,000 for the Indian River Bridge, and $200,000 to complete the bulkheads on Route 1.
