Not an Enviable Location
The proposal for a recycling and transfer station will bring in trash from all over to our town. The company's activities will include loading and unloading of motor vehicles, processing the same as well as other recyclables, outdoor storage, and transfer to another on site location, which means all day noise and activity.
Tractor trailers will also be constantly coming in along already heavily traveled roads, Universal Drive and Sackett Point Road. It will affect businesses along these areas, which was already mentioned. An incinerator was also mentioned, but was dropped. Believe me, down the road, once this company gets its foot in the door, there will be and incinerator. This proposal will be an all-day traffic and noise operation.
One parent was at a previous Planning & Zoning Commission meeting and said it best-her child plays outdoors and did not approve the pollution this would create. Remember, air rises and winds blow, therefore pollution has no boundaries, wherever you live in town. All property values will decrease, as North Haven will not be an enviable location. This proposal must be stopped. As for taxes, the more money we take in, the less we receive from the state.
I encourage parents and residents to attend the Monday, Aug. 5 Planning & Zoning Commission meeting at 7 p.m. at the library.
