Adrian and Marie Bassett Celebrate 70th Wedding Anniversary
Adrian and Marie Bassett of Madison recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married on April 20, 1943 at the former Clinton Manor Inn, while Adrian was on furlough.
Marie Belcher Bassett was born in Clinton, and Adrian was born in Madison. They owned and operated the Madison Service Station, the Madison Bike Shop, and Madison Property Rentals located on the corner of Boston Post Road and Scotland Avenue.
Adrian served during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Madison Hose Company No. 1, having once held the position of fire chief.
The Bassetts celebrated their anniversary at their home in Tequesta, Florida, with their three children, Clay of Simsbury, Leslie Penna of Madison, and Adrienne Raynor of Burke, Virginia.
