Police Investigate Credit Union Burglary
Detectives are actively investigating a commercial burglary they believe occurred during the early morning hours of Christmas Eve.
Employees of Untied Shoreline Federal Credit Union, located at 249 West Main Street Branford, discovered the burglary when they arrived at work today, just after 7:00 a.m. this morning after being closed for the holiday. Detectives believe that perpetrators defeated a rooftop vent and entered into a rear employee lobby just after 2:20 a.m. on December 24th. Officers checked the building after receiving a report of an electronic alarm activation at about the same time, however due to the point of entry, officers found the building to be secure and couldn’t see anyone inside. After the alarm, no one from the Credit Union checked on the condition or the nature of the alarm.
“Bank surveillance video shows two subjects in dark colored hoodies entering the bank.” said Detective Lieutenant William Carroll, Commander of the department’s Detective Division. Carroll continued, “Both subjects were short and thin built, one possibly be a female, unknown race. One perpetrator had a pinkish red backpack.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective William DeGoursey at 203-481-4241 or at Branford’s Crime Tip-Line, 203-315-3909.
